Find & Redact

Redact PDF content online, free: find text by keyword and cover matches in bulk. Processed locally.

Find and cover sensitive content in bulk by keyword — names, account numbers, amounts, addresses — so nothing leaks when you share the file.

Multiple keywords are supported, along with case sensitivity, whole-word matching and regular expressions; review each match before covering it, and customise the fill colour and border.

Note: redaction draws a solid box over the text while the underlying text stays in the file. For highly sensitive material, combine it with Sanitize PDF.

Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.

How to use

  1. Upload a PDF — Drop in the document to redact.
  2. Search by keyword — Use one or more keywords, or a regular expression.
  3. Select, redact and download — Review the matches, then cover them and save.

FAQ

Is the text really gone after redaction?

Visually it is covered by a solid box, but the underlying text remains in the file. For highly sensitive material, use Sanitize PDF afterwards to truly remove the content before sharing.

Why can some keywords not be found?

The page may be a scan without a text layer, in which case run OCR first; alternatively the text may be split into many fragments or embedded as a graphic.

Are regular expressions supported?

Yes. Enable the regex option to match patterns such as \d{16} for card numbers or dates; separate multiple keywords with commas.
